Inspiration
Windows into the Soul
Our Lenten study has been one of joy and learning with our brothers and sisters in faith at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. In our journey through some of the psalms, we have shared reflections, questions, connections, and new friendships. This mid-week Sabbath time has allowed some of us to stop and let go of our daily occupations for a time of renewal and growth in the Spirit. Father Gary Parker and your pastor have shared leadership responsibilities and enjoyed the fellowship of an ecumenical gathering around the table. We continue to meet on Thursday evenings, March 6 and 13 at 7:30 pm at St. Paul’s. Please feel free to join us.
Holy Week Schedule
On Maundy Thursday, March 20, at 7:30 pm, there will be a service of communion celebrating the Lord’s Last Supper with his disciples. All are invited to come and share in this important occasion. It will be held upstairs in the Sunday School room where we will gather around a table, similar to the table our Lord and his disciples gathered around. If any need a ride, be sure to call the Office and let the Pastor know. A ride will be worked out for you.
Though there will be no Good Friday service, the church will be open from 12 Noon to 3 pm for any who wish to come and pray or meditate. It is a wonderful time to prepare your hearts for the Easter celebration. Time spent in quiet prayer and meditation allows you to find that space within where God’s Spirit dwells.
Easter Dawn will find us down at Morgan Park as we traditionally welcome Christ’s rising from death to life at 7 am on Sunday, March 23. After a brief service, we return to the church for coffee and a light refreshment. Then we return at 10 am for our Easter service and Fellowship Hour.
Millenium Bible Study
Our Bible Study group, though small, still continues our journey through the Bible with the books of Job, the Psalms and Proverbs. It is a joy to share in new understandings of our faith and to share in fellowship with one another. We meet at 10 am on the first Monday of each month. No previous Bible study is needed. We welcome all newcomers.
Volunteers Needed for the Shelter
The North Shore Shelter continues in its eleventh season every night beginning at 6:30 pm here at our church. As always, the Shelter depends on many, many community volunteers to care for the homeless men who seek safe haven from winter’s cold. There is a need for volunteers for both the evening, 6-10 pm, and night, 10pm-6:30 am shifts. Also there is need for nurses. Nurses typically work for about 1 hour, on a schedule that works for them. People or groups who wish to provide dinner for the men will be scheduled for a night that is convenient for all.
If you are concerned about taking on a new responsibility, be assured that “veterans” will be with you as you work. There will be one paid staff each overnight, but a second volunteer is needed. Nurses will be ‘trained’ in their responsibilities and evening shift volunteers will be shown what to do as well.

New Member Class
There will be a New Member class offered in early April. If you would like to simply explore the idea of membership, there is no commitment required to come to the class. It usually lasts 2-3 hours on a weekday or Sunday evening and covers a bit of church history, beliefs, polity and the traditions of this particular church. Let Pastor Betsy know if you are interested and we will try to accommodate everyone’s schedule.
